Stocks Fall For The 2nd Consecutive Month, The Market Feels Sick

The S&P 500 fell -1.27% this week with Friday's close at 4,328.87. Friday's weekly close is the lowest weekly close since July of 2021 at 4,327.16. The index has now declined six of the last nine weeks and is down -9.18% thus far in 2022. We often marvel at how things seem to change from year to year, and it's like the volatility switch got turned on the minute we flipped the calendar to 2022. What's in store for the rest of the year? Stocks Stumble In January, The Picture Turns Cloudy

The S&P 500 gained 1.55% this week with Friday's close at 4,500.53. The index has now increased two weeks in a row after falling each of the prior three weeks to start 2022. January's decline was enough to change the primary trend from up, or "bullish", to neutral. What's next?

Stocks Sprint Through The Finish Line

The S&P 500 gained 0.85% this week with Friday's close at 4,766.18. Friday's close is a new all-time high weekly close. The index opened the week flying higher on Monday, closing the session at 4,791.19. We then traded to a new all-time high at 4,807.02 on Tuesday, a new all-time high daily close at 4,793.06 on Wednesday (our 70th new all-time high daily close of 2021), and another new all-time high on Thursday at 4,808.93. Clearly, Santa brought all the presents this year!

Stocks Decline, Uncertainty's In The Air - But It Pays To Be An Optimist

The S&P 500 declined -1.22% this week with Friday's close at 4,538.43. The index has now declined two weeks in a row and closed Friday -3.40% below our all-time high weekly close at 4,697.96 from just three short week ago. Stocks Rip Higher. Yes, This Can Continue.

The S&P 500 gained 1.33% this week with Friday's close at 4,605.38. Friday's close is a new all-time high daily, weekly and monthly close for the index. The index has now recorded a new all-time high daily close 59 times thus far in 2021, only 19 away from the record of 77 set back in 1995. So, we're saying there's a chance.
